Semperit Wins Multiple Awards in Poland
Vienna, Austria/Bełchatów, Poland, 5 December 2013 – Sempertrans Bełchatów, a subsidiary of the international Semperit Group, succeeded in winning three major corporate awards in Poland within just a few days. First of all, the conveyor belt manufacturer was given the Polish Innovation Award at the Entrepreneurship Congress held in Katowice. This prize, granted annually by the Polish Ministry of Economy together with the Polish Ministry of Regional Development, is one of the most important awards for product innovations in the country. The jury recognised the value of the new energy-saving conveyor belt developed by Sempertrans, featuring significantly reduced rolling resistance. In this way, conveyor belt operators can reduce energy consumption by up to 25 percent compared to the usual amount of energy required.
In addition to the Innovation Award, Sempertrans Bełchatów also won the Euro Partner Award, formally presented to the company by Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechociński at a gala award ceremony held in Warsaw at the end of November. Beginning of December, Sempertrans Bełchatów was given another business award initiated by the Polish Ministry of Economy to honor its achievements as leading Polish exporter in the chemical industry.
Large contract orders and a major investment programme
The successful market launch of the energy-saving conveyor belt is underlined by initial large contract orders placed by the Polish energy sector company PGE, the German utility company RWE and an order in South East Asia. This innovative conveyor belt has contributed significantly towards ensuring full capacity utilisation of the Sempertrans plant in Bełchatów throughout the year 2013 and beyond. The Semperit Group is expanding the conveyor belt production at its Bełchatów site in Poland as a result of the strong demand for Sempertrans products. A total of about EUR 40 million will be invested until 2015 to expand production capacity and thus create new industrial jobs in Poland.
